Closest word for 정

I've finally found the closest translation for the word "정" in English. Many people have said it does not exist, but in actuality, 정 = affinity, strong affinity for someone else. English is awesome! :)

New Project

Recently, my project has changed from the IRS to ... a project where if I told you what it was about, I'd have to kill you. The change more or less mandatory than voluntary and it's been quite tough to adjust. As a result of what I've experience for the past 3 weeks, I've learned the importance of having co-workers that are the same age. I am the youngest in the office and it has been quite difficult to fit in to the "group". Work environment is key to how stressed, or unstressed, you are after work.

Status update

Haven't updated my blog in a bit. I've been so busy with doing nothing ^^;;

There have been many articles online about device simplicity. My question is: then why are they putting more and more features on a phone? Do people really want to watch tv and movies, listen to music, surf the internet, organize their life, while talking to their mother on the phone all at the same time?

Don't get me wrong. I will most likely also follow the trend and buy a phone that can vacuum the floor and cook me dinner. But there is still a fundamental downfall to this idea of having a device that does everything, and that is battery life. Phone manufacturers have boasted that battery life on their phones but reality is, if you are watching a movie or listening to music, your phone will most likely die when you are making the most important phone conversation of your life. Once you drop your life cell phone, your life will become a mess because you've grown a dependency on it.

Maybe this is another way for phone companies to raise phone plan prices offering to do your laundry for you for an extra $15 a month ...

One of our brothers needs pixels!

Wow, I haven't posted a post in a long time but this requires a post. The mother of one of the brothers that attend our church has been diagnosed with cancer and is in the late stages. Unfortunately, their family did not have health insurance until recently and he is having a difficult time with the treatment bills before they acquired health insurance. He has created a website to help with this effort and I've posted it on digg. Let's digg this website up to raise awareness within the digg community!

Back from a really long trip

Ok, so I'm back from a really long (almost two months of traveling) trip. I presume I'll put up massive quantities of pictures but for the time being, this blog will have to wait until I recuperate from jetlag and other such factors that have the potential to destroy my daily routine. Til then, always smile everyone!

Flock to browser

I'm a little psyched about the new social networking focused browser that Mozilla is about to release. It is called Flock and its main focus is to make the social networking blob on the interweb a little more user friendly. The browser will allow users to organize all of the sites that you frequent and organize them in a manner where you will be able to view the more recently updated post. The application will gather recently updated pictures and blogposts from the various sites that you stalk and organize the information into three separate boxes.
It will pretty much be a portal or gateway to all your circle of interweb friends, and media. Hope the browser exceeds my expectations ...

A LAMP to light the room

Whenever I try something new, it always seems to look easier to do than actually doing it. Setting up a web server? Great, looks easy enough! NOT. Learning to work with a DNS server and mapping the right ports to the right apache instance on linux? Sure, easy enough. (10 mins later) NOT! Programming with the .NET framework. I can do that. NOT!

Well, I've finally been able to learn more about one of those tough tasks. LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) comes packaged together in the ubuntu 7.04 server edition and allows the user to easily setup a linux web server. Installing all of this was pretty easy, now to configuring it .... ...........
